Tobacco is doing well now. They just needed some time to take hold. The shaman is the farthest along and only 3 giant variegated tobacco coming in last. Overall, I'm happy with how it's going so far.
The garden is in full swing now. The tobacco has finally seemed to take root and I have been able to transplant a few into the ground. Salad greens are doing well. Today we will be having a salad with fresh lettuce and spinach (our first harvest).

For the past few years I've been progressively expanding my garden and trying out new things. This year I thought I'd try to grow my own tobacco with taxes as high as they are now. For me, the price of a 150g can of American Spirit went from $14 to $35. The price of a seed pack was about $3 which contained around 100 seeds. One plant can average 3-6 ounces of tobacco which is about the same as a can. The equates to about 0.03 cents per can of tobacco (not counting fertilizer/watering/time/etc). You just can't beat those prices.
